Singing Valentines Sales will be Tomorrow and Monday/Wednesday next week. There is a sign up list online for students to walk around M, W, & F to publicize singing valentines.  You can earn service hours for this.

CV - final trip payments were due yesterday. You or your parent should have received an email letting you know what you owe. If you spoke to me about a delayed payment, please send Mrs. Patchett a quick email so I have a record of it.

All State Students you forms and paperwork were due yesterday! If you have them today, please put money in grey box and forms on Mrs. Patchett’s desk.

We have 22 rehearsals until MPA and 1 more rehearsal until Ms. Setzer comes to see us tomorrow! Let’s get to work! :)



Rehearsal:

We reviewed all 5 singing valentines that we've learned so far.

We sight read in the 2000 Sight Reading booklets at advanced level for rhythm and intermediate level for singing

Way Over In Beulah LAN'

-auditions for the higher part at the end of the piece took place and were finalized. Congrats to the four lovely ladies who received this part! You'll do a great job. 

-in measures 119-120, crescendo at "ovuh in" and decrescendo at "way" (the same applies for measure 127)

-in measure 131, the dynamic is piano and at measure 134 the dynamic is forte/mezzo forte

-in measure 143 at the word "land", the moving notes need emphasis

-men, make sure to use the rest in measure 137

Shore on This Shining Night

-in measure 28, the word "North" is one beat

-no breath in measure 61 after the word "shining"

-tenors, use inflection in measures 57-60

-for pages 4-7, we sang this section in circles around the room organized by voice part

-there's no breath between the words "alone" and "of" in measure 46

-in measure 34, women make sure to crescendo the word "healed"

Concert Choir, Friday 02/03/17

Rehearsal Notes and Assignments:  Today, Mrs. Setzer (yes I know I probably spelled that really wrong) came and she listened to our MPA music and helped us fix some stuff! we went through 'Sing Me to Heaven' through the end. Remember to keep tall vowels!! We went through the 'shout oh my Jesus' part of  'I'm Gonna Sing' and then we ran through the whole thing. In both songs, we worked through the difficult chords and made sure each voice part knew their notes :)

Homework: There is an updated 'Homework Calendar' on the chorus website that shows you the month and what you need to review at home each day along with practice tracks!!

Concert Choir, Tuesday 01/31/17

Rehearsal Notes and Assignments:  Today we went through 'Sing Me to Heaven' through the end. Remember to keep tall vowels!! We went through the 'shout oh my Jesus' part of  'I'm Gonna Sing' and then we ran through the whole thing. In both songs, we worked through the difficult chords toward the end and made sure each voice part knew their notes :)

Sight Singing: Went through the MPA packet and sang the Beginning SAB

Homework: There is an updated 'Homework Calendar' on the chorus website that shows you the month and what you need to review at home each day along with practice tracks. Tonight's Homework......

Rehearsal Notes and Assignments:  Today we went through 'Sing Me to Heaven' through measure 44. Remember to keep tall vowels!! We went through the 'shout oh my Jesus' part of  'I'm Gonna Sing' . We also Sight sang the Beginning mixed 2-part in the MPA booklet. Make sure you are learning your music that you're supposed to for homework!!

Concert Choir, Friday 01/27/17

Rehearsal Notes and Assignments:  Today we had a substitute... We went through 'Sing Me to Heaven' as a group reviewing everything we have already done. We also went through 'I'm Gonna Sing' and then we split into sectionals. Sectionals were supposed to work on all of 'I'm Gonna Sing' and measures 1-30 of 'Sing me to Heaven'. After about 30 mins of sectional rehearsal, we came back together as a group and rehearsed the songs as a class! They sounded great :) For the last 45 minutes of class, we reveiwed some of our MPA songs on an adjudicator evaluation sheet. Thanks for doing a decent job of paying attention and not talking while Ethan and I led class!! :)

Concert Choir, Thursday 01/26/17

Rehearsal Notes and Assignments: Today we reviewed singing Valentines (Can't Help Falling In Love With You and Come & Go) and then we practiced Sight Singing using an old MPA book from 2000. We went through 'Sing Me to Heaven' reviewing everything we have already done through page 3 and then continued on to page 5. We also went through 'I'm Gonna Sing' and we stood mixed around the room so we could hear other voice parts. Make sure to number your measures in the music so you know where to look if we're marking something :)

Sight Singing: Practiced Beginning Rythm and Beginning SA Sight Singing as a class today as we would for MPA (no talking, only open the book when told, practice in your head, answer questions about time signature and tricky measures, etc.)

Welcome Back Everyone!! :)

Rehearsal Notes and Assignments: Today we learned a new singing Valentine (Can't Help Falling In Love With You) and then we practiced Sight Singing using an old MPA book from 2000. We went through 'Sing Me to Heaven' reviewing everything we have already done through page 3. Make sure to number your measures in the music!! We also got new seats today so if you were absent, be sure to ask Mrs. Patchett for the seating chart tomorrow :)

Sight Singing: Practiced as a class today as we would for MPA (no talking, only open the book when told, practice in your head, answer questions about time signature and tricky measures, etc.)
