Announcements - Wednesday 10.3.18

Our Mattress Sale is Oct. 20th. YOU can earn $25 per referral for every customer that comes in and purchases a mattress and says you were the one to refer them!  We will also need a few volunteers on Oct. 20 throughout the day. The sign up list will be on charms in a couple of weeks. Tell everyone you know that we are having a mattress sale!!!

Musical Auditions will be Oct. 15 & 16. The application and sign-ups to audition have been posted online. There will be call-backs on Oct. 25.  Please leave this date open in case you are needed. Mostly likely, not everyone who auditioned will be called for call-backs.

We will have another spirit night October 15th at Acme Pizza. Plan to eat dinner at Acme Pizza and mention the chorus when you pay your bill!

Butterbraids will be delivered on Oct 18th. You need to plan to pick up your butterbraids right after school and get them to a freezer. The butterbraids can only be out of the freezer for 2 hours after you pick them up before they start to thaw and expand and will be ruined.

Many students have missing homework and missing quiz grades etc.  You need to plan to meet with Mrs. Patchett B lunch this week to make up assignments and quizzes and make sure you are all caught up on your work. Does anyone have forms, money, or homework to turn in?

Officers in each class will need to meet with Mrs. Patchett on a schedule thisweek and the week following.

     Beginning chorus

     We got a packet about naming notes on a piano, that has to be done as homework. On the first page there an octave on the piano that you need to label all the white keys. We were taught the phrase "D is the doggy with the two black ears" this means the key in between the 2 black keys is D and you can fill it in from there. On the second page you need to match the note on the scale to the number of the key that note is. The third page is just working with ledger lines. If you have any questions you can talk to Ms. Patchett before or after class and during B lunch.

      We did some work on musictheory.net. you don't need to turn anything in but Ms. Patchett is encouraging you to practice. We also made sure we can log into charms so we can record ourselves for tomorrow's singing test. If you can not log into Charms please talk or email Ms. Patchett as soon as possible.

We learned measures 60-65 of Gatatumba. Worked on the phrasing and vowels in Let the Praise Go 'Round. Also prepare for a singing quiz this Thursday on the song Let the Praise Go 'Round where we will sing a section of the song with the entire choir and record ourselves on devices.

Concert Choir 10/2/18

Today in class we began with practicing on a tonal pentachord. We sang on solfege following along with Mrs. Patchett's finger. Then we moved onto repeating Mrs. Patchett for practice doing mixed meter. We then moved onto completing a dictation assignment which we were required to turn in for a grade. We continued onto practicing Thankful which we checked notes on for pages 1-4 in preparation for our signing quiz tomorrow.

We had a guest speaker via video chat with soprano Rebecca Krynski Cox. We learned about what the profession of being an opera singer is like and a typical path a young person would take in order to become a professional opera singer.

The required parent/student meeting was last night.

Student leadership applications are due Friday.
