Beginning chorus Monday 10/8/18

Monday 10/8/18
     Beginning Chorus
We started class by working on diction and vowels with some warm ups. We then made up the singing quiz for those who missed it. We then translated the words in Gatatumba with the translation guide on page 2 in the music. We used those translations and wrote the English translations under the Spanish phrases. Don't worry about translating word for word just write the English phrases under the Spanish phrases.
We then went into a lesson about writing down beats that someone said. Ms.Patchett taught us a shorthand to quickly write down the beat while she is saying it. The base of it is for each note in the measure put 2 eighth notes without heads. If the note is a quarter note put a curved line, or tie, between the 2 corresponding eighth notes. If the note is a quarter rest cross out the corresponding eighth notes, and if the beat is an eighth note then write nothing. Also if the note is a half note then tie 4 eighth notes. The lesson is note easy to explain in words if you were absent today I advise you to go talk to Ms. Patchett after class and during B lunch when she is open.
